(Almost) One Layer Winter Wonder

Hey there! Today I’m sharing one of my favorite cards and stamps set from the Hero Arts 2018 Winter catalog, the Polar Greetings stamp set, on an almost one-layer card.

I started out by blending a soft background, masking off the edges using washi tape, which is a super quick way to get an even rectangular mask. For the hill though, I took a piece of masking tape and freehand cut a “hill”. Then I blended the background with Passion Flower, adding more ink at the bottom for a gradient look.

After I heat set the ink and added some anti-static embossing powder, I stamped the greeting in Versamark and heat embossed in silver sparkle embossing powder. Then I flicked some white ink on it, for some “snow”.

It’s important to do the white ink last on the background (if you use the same “snow” technique I did) because it takes a super long time to dry, even with heat setting. I actually added some clear sparkle embossing powder on top of the white ink, for some sparkle and also so I didn’t have to wait to adhere my critters.

The last step is to stamp the adorable little bears, and their accessories, in Charcoal, and color lightly with some ZIGs.

I hand trimmed the bears, because I didn’t have the handy-dandy dies at the time, and then adhered them to the card base.

That finishes off this sweet card! What do you think of the bears? I love them and can’t wait to pull them out again, as soon as I get my new craft desk!

Ellen Hutson is having a sale on stamps right now, 20% off, but it ends today, so if you want to pick up the Polar Greetings stamp set, now is the time!

Thanks for stopping in and God bless!
