Faux Coffee & Whipped Cream – August My Monthly Hero

Hey there! Today I’m playing along in the Hero Arts August 2018 My Monthly Hero blog hop, with a card inspired by my favorite caffeinated beverage, using images and dies from the main kit.

CARD DEETS – Faux Coffee & Whipped Cream

This month is full of family coming into town, so I only have one card for you that I whipped up (no pun intended ;)) real quick before leaving for the newest nephews baptism.

I started out by recreating my favorite caffeinated drink (iced mocha), stamping the cup outline (from the kit) in Cup ‘O Joe, and then blending in Antique Linen and Gathered Twigs. I then took a small piece of foam, cut it into a square shape, and then did a bit of the rock ‘n roll ink technique to create the ice cubes in my drink. I heat embossed the cubes with clear embossing powder – I love how realistic this looks!

I don’t usually get whipped cream on my drinks now, but I couldn’t pass up the fun foam technique you’ve probably been seeing on this hop. I die-cut the whipped cream, and then went over with some clear lacquer. I then added White Puff embossing powder and heat set it. So neat! The lacquer pen and embossing powder are both included in this kit, but are also available for purchase separately.

I finished the drink off with a straw stamped in Red Royal on pink layering paper, and then trimmed it out.

I was thinking about what kind of background I wanted for the cup, when I thought of, you guessed it, Starbucks. The Hero Arts Emerald Green is the perfect shade for this! So I stamped the new Distressed Tile Bold Prints background in Emerald Green, and then blended some more ink for a richer look. I sprayed some white iridescent shimmer spray to finished the background, and die-cut it with a heart die.

The main panel was die-cut with the same heart as the background, and then adhered to the base with dimensional adhesive. I adhered the background die-cut and coffee, and then finished the card off with a sentiment (from the kit) heat embossed in white on black cardstock.

This month’s kit includes:

  • 6″ x 8″ Clear Stamp Set
  • 1 3.5″ x 4.5″ Window Fancy Die
  • 11 Coordinating Frame Cuts Dies
  • Crystal Clear Lacquer Pen 0.5 fl. oz.
  • White Puff Embossing Powder 0.5 oz.
  • 2 5.5″ x 8.5″ Sheets of Coffee & Tea Hand Dyed Decorative Paper

The value of the kit is $77, but it is sold at $34.99. You can purchase it HERE.

The kit is available for a limited time only – once it’s gone, it’s gone. However, you can subscribe to receive the kit monthly and never miss one!

There’s a lot of great add-ons this month too – I won’t link to each, but HERE’S the whole lot of them. If that’s not your jive, that’s fine! You can buy them separately as well – just check out THIS page.

  1. Awesome card Clare and although I also don’t like cream on my drinks but for this whipped cream I like to make an exception! Thank you for showing.

  2. I love mochas too. I love your card. I passed on the distress bold tile print but may have to go back to order. I am liking it more now that I am seeing all the cards done with it.

  3. LOVE the rock and roll technique, it really does look like ice! Loving this release, can’t wait to play with some of the puffy embossing powder. I love that effect. TFS!

  4. I love the green heart background made with the Distressed Tile Bold Prints stamp. That background stamp is definitely on my wishlist!
