Fun and Simple Valentines

Welcome to the Hero Arts 2018 Valentine’s Day Catalog Release blog hop! Thank you so very much for stopping in today!

This release contains one of my favorite stamps from the year – the adorable Otter Family Stamp and Cut.

Aren’t they just so darn cute?! I stamped them in Black and colored them with ZIG Dark Brown, Mid Brown, Oatmeal, Mustard, and then a touch of Light Carmine for the cheeks. I cut little slits in them (lol, that sounds horrible!) so that I could tuck in some little hearts I had free-hand cut from some Blush scraps.

I stamped the background using the curly waves from Enjoy the Journey in Mint Julep, and adhered the little rascals on top. I then heat embossed the sentiment (from Otter Family Stamp and Cut) in White on some Black cardstock, cut it into two strips, and adhered it to the card base.

Finally, I added some little black waves (a little stamp from the Otter set) in Black to fill in the areas.

There are so many lovely goodies in the catalog, and so I couldn’t stop at one card. There’s a lot of tiny little messages in this release that would fit perfectly in-between the new Loving Giraffes, but they also look pretty darn cute on their own.

Here, I used Love You Message, XOXO, Be Mine Message, and Hugs and Kisses. I stamped them each once in Navy on Blush, Pool and Sunshine layering paper scraps, and then die cut them with a die from the Hearts Infinity die set.

I didn’t measure to align everything, but instead lightly adhered the bottom three hearts, and then stacked three on top, without adhesive. This gave me an idea of how high the hearts would go when stacked, so I readjusted the bottom three as necessary, and then adhered the rest of the hearts in rows. It helps that the bottom point of each nestles well on the top curve of another.

To top it off, I heat embossed a sentiment from the classic Love Stamp and Cut in White on Black cardstock. I cut it into a strip and adhered with dimensional adhesive.

I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post.

  1. Every card I see on this hop makes me want to say “What fun!” which I think is a tribute to the release. Everything is just sweet fun. You can’t go wrong with otters, and your coloring is lovely. And I love the way you did your scrap heart card. Don’t get me wrong, the traditional conversation heart is a classic look, but I like how these look a little more sophisticated. Thanks for sharing your creativity with us!
