Halloween…ish Card

I’m not a big fan of Halloween.

Don’t get me wrong, I like fall and leaves and Thanksgiving and other fall-ish stuff, but Halloween? Eh, it’s never really been a part of my growing up, and to be honest, the idea of a bunch of random, strangely dressed people knocking on my door late at night just doesn’t appeal to me.

Consequently, I don’t really care for making Halloween cards. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever made one – I think today’s card, using the cute little owl from Hero Arts, is the closest I’ve ever gotten.

I started out by stamping the second layer of the owl in Soft Sky and the second layer in Charcoal, and then I trimmed the little guy out (there are coordinating dies though).

I used a background scrap I had made months before, with a stencil, Indigo ink, Unicorn spray and the darkest Sea Layering paper. I also stamped the branch in Indigo, but let’s be honest, it’s pretty hard to tell, so yeah, it looks like the poor owl is just floating there.

I die-cut a white panel with a heart die, and stamped the accompanying sentiment in Charcoal as well. I adhered everything together on a piece of white cardstock that I had covered with Soft Sky, to match the owl.

That finishes off my not-really-Halloween card.

What about you? Do you like Halloween, and in either case, do you make projects for it?

Thanks for stopping in today and God bless!

  1. I’m not a Halloween person either. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.

I have made Halloween cards back in the day – because I had glow in the dark embossing powder and a cute jack o’lantern stamp.
