Same Stamps, Two Looks

Hey all! Today I’m participating in the Hero Arts January 2018 My Monthly Hero Arts blog hop – first MMH of the year, and we’re off to a great start with this month’s beautiful kit and add-ons!

The two cards I’m sharing today use almost the exact same supplies, but with some differences to spice them up.

(Supplies are linked at the end of this post, as well as throughout the post. Compensated affiliate links used at no cost to you. To watch the video in HD on YouTube, click HERE.]

For the first card, I stamped the beautiful Artistic Dahlia in Soft Vanilla twice across the card. Then I used the beautiful love image, from the main kit stamp set, Layered on Love, and stamped the base layer of the Love sentiment in Rose Madder, and the second layer in Raspberry Jam.

I covered a piece of cardstock with Raspberry Jam, heat set it and covered it with lots of anti-static powder (or cornstarch, if you don’t have a fancy tool ;)). Then I heat embossed the accompanying sentiment in White, and adhered to the card base.

The second card follows the same process for the base – stamp the Artistic Dahlia in Soft Vanilla, then the Ampersand in Rose Madder and Raspberry Jam. However, to spice things up a bit, I stamped the dahlia several more times in Soft Vanilla on scrap cardstock and then die cut the centers using the coordinating dies. You can die cut four layers of this dahlia using the coordinating die, but I chose just to use the smallest two.

For every die cut stamped flower, I die cut a second one out of scrap cardstock, without stamping, and adhered it behind the stamped die cut. This gave the flowers just a little extra dimension without getting too crazy.

I topped the flowers off with some pearls, and that finishes off the cards!

Be sure to check out the new add-ons this month – there’s lot of beauties! I may be partial to these guys, since I illustrated them…;)

  1. I’ve been so focused on the layering Love stamp, I almost missed the Ampersand! Love the way you showcased it and the colors you chose.

  2. Very nice! Your designs are beautiful! The ampersand and Love stamp both have so much going on, you kept the rest of the card simple and elegant! Thank you for demonstrating how to pop-up multi -layered dies without foam. And thank you for sharing your work!

  3. I have to admit that until I saw your card with the Dahlia’s I couldn’t see them. Until I saw them up close I saw how beautiful they really were and you used my favorite color in whole wide world, yellow, in the pearls in the middle of the flowers. I love the lettering with the & and the love card. Both of them are beautiful! I can’t wait to win this!
Thanks for showing us your beautiful cards and for giving us the chance to win something. One more stop on the hop and I am all done!

  4. I love both of your cards. I really like the layered flower. The pink and purple of the you & me on the white background is really pretty.
