Hello! Today I’m playing along in the Hero Arts June 2018 My Monthly Hero blog hop, with two cards using some beautiful images and dies from the main kit.
CARD DEETS – Sea You Soon
There are so many beautiful images in this kit that work perfectly with the absolutely stunning new fancy frame die, also in the kit. I started out stamping the waves first, inking up the last layer of the waves in Versamark and then Cotton Candy. I wanted the top layer to be the lightest, so I needed to emboss it so the color underneath wouldn’t be covered up by the subsequent, darker layers. By inking up with Versamark, and then the colored ink, I get the embossable stickiness from Versamark without really contaminating either ink pad. I do this a lot, and I haven’t noticed the Versamark having any noticeable effect on the colored ink pads.

After stamping and heat embossing the first layer with clear Sparkle embossing powder, I inked the second layer in Versamark and Passion Flower, and then heat embossed with Pearl embossing powder. I stamped the very last layer in Stone Wash, then I put a strip of masking paper over the stamped waves so that I could blend the sunset background.
I die cut a circle out of masking tape, and then blended the sun with a mix of Dandelion and Soft Apricot. Then I put the reverse of the mask on the sun, and blended out the rest of the sky with a mix of Bubble Gum, Ultra Pink, Stone Wash, Grape Juice and Navy. I stamped the clouds and birds with Ultra Pink – I just love how they look different stamped between the sun and sky.
I then masked off the sky, and blended the bottom background with a more Stone Wash, Grape Juice and Navy. Then I sprayed the entire panel with White Iridescent Shimmer Spray. After that had dried, I stamped the boat in Navy, and die cut some vellum clouds with the coordinating dies.
The sentiment was heat embossed in white and die cut using the die from Yes Stamp&Cut, and then the entire panel covered with the beautiful new Beach Frame fancy die.
CARD DEETS – Wishing Mermaid
When I was looking for sunset inspiration, I saw THIS cute graphic, and just had to try and recreate it in card format.
The waves were stamped with Summer Sky, Stone Wash and Indigo, while the mermaid and rock were stamped in Navy. I then blended a background using Summer Sky, Grape Juice, Stone Wash and Navy.

I realized after I had blended the background that I had forgotten to mask off the moon, so what I did was make a mask, die-cutting a small circle from masking tape. Then I tapped a bunch of Unicorn ink on the cardstock, and then heat embossed that with Pearl embossing powder.
I then stamped the sentiment – from Make A Wish – in Navy, and die cut some more vellum clouds. To make the front for the shaker card, I die cut Reef Border and Frame die from white cardstock and adhered some acetate behind it. I then filled in the empty space with a mix of Purple Ombre and Blue Ombre sequins, and adhered the die cut panel on top.
CARD DEETS – Waving Hello
Finally, there are so many great add-ons this month – I didn’t have enough time to play with all of the, but I was able to make this quickie, using some scraps from older projects.
I had a background already made, the Waves Background clear embossed on some shimmer navy cardstock. So I cut the top off the background into a wave-esque border, and adhered it to a smaller, 5″x4″card base.

I then die cut a previously blended background (of Spiced Marmalade and Dried Marigold, I think – but I made the background awhile ago ;)) with a heart infinity die. I adhered this to the background, and quickly colored some images from the new Seas the Day Seagulls that I had stamped in Charcoal and Soft Granite. I die cut these, and adhered them to the heart, along with a sentiment stamped in Charcoal on some scrap gray cardstock.
Finally, I topped everything off with some clear droplets – they look kind of like bubbles surfacing to me. 🙂
