Hey there! I’m hopping along with lots of talented artists today, celebrating the release of the new Hero Arts 2018 Winter Catalog in the Hero Arts store. There are so many fun new products, so I’ve got a couple cards to share with you today!

CARD DEETS – Winter Scene

My first card is one of my favorite types of cards – cards with scenes! I started out by blending a background on Bristol cardstock using Cotton Candy ink, and then flicking some white iridescent shimmer spray. After the panel dried, the top sentiment – from Wishes Stamp & Cut – was stamped in Pale Tomato. I covered a piece of cardstock in Pale Tomato, die-cut it several times with the Wishes Stamp & Cut die, layered the die-cuts together, and then adhered it below the stamped sentiment.

The hills were cut freehand, embellished with some yummy new snowfall glitter, and adhered to the panel. I then stamped the fawn – from the new Color Layering Fawn – in Soft Brown, Cup ‘O Joe, and Black, die-cut it, and topped with a bow (from Color Layering Fox) stamped in Pale Tomato. I then adhered the little gal to the card.

For the card base, I covered a piece of woodgrain cardstock with Soft Brown, and then adhered the embellished panel. If you wanted, you could use the new Woodgrain Texture die to die-cut your own background!

CARD DEETS – Partial Die-Cutting

The new Snowflake Edge die is so darn pretty! You can use it – and the new Holiday Greenery edge die – dies to easily create window folding cards, or, you could get some lovely effects by partial die-cuting, like I did with this next card. HERE’S a video on partial die-cutting. For this card, I combined it with the hilarious and adorable Color Layering Fa La Llama.

After partial die-cutting the top of a piece of white cardstock, I then created a pink background for it by blending a mish-mash of Ultra Pink, Bubble Gum, Cotton Candy and Pale Tomato together, and topping it off with white iridescent shimmer spray. After the cardstock dried, I adhered it to the card base, along with the die-cut white panel, popped on some foam adhesive.

Next, I stamped the llama in Soft Brown, Cup ‘O Joe, Black, Cotton Candy and Aegean. After die-cutting, I adhered it to the card base and stamped the accompanying sentiment in Aegean, using my MISTI so I wouldn’t mess up the card I had set up.

Finally, I finished the card off by tucking some pink sequins from Pink Pop Flowers behind the snowflakes.

CARD DEETS – Gold Glitter Die-Cut

This is a more traditionally colored Christmas card, with a lot of pizzazz coming from the gold glitter embossing powder.

I stamped the new Color Layering Poinsettia in Fresh Peach, Pale Tomato, Red Royal and Butter Bar (you could also try out the new suggested ink cube pack, to make things easier ;)). The leaves were stamped with Green Hills and Lime Green. The entire panel was die-cut with a rounded rectangle die.

I stamped the sentiment – from Polar Greetings – in Versamark, and heat embossed it with gold glitter embossing powder.

Then, I covered a piece of cardstock with Soft Vanilla and Versamark, and then heat embossed it with gold glitter embossing powder. I covered the cardstock with Soft Vanilla first, so if I missed any spots when heat embossing, it wouldn’t be as noticeable as white cardstock.

I die-cut the gold panel with the new Holidays word die and adhered it above the embossed sentiment, and that finished off the card!
